How to Make Color Smileys in Chat
You can brighten up a text conversation with colored smileys. Yellow smiley faces are available with most instant messaging services, but you can upload colored ones you have created or saved to your computer. Then you can insert these colored smiley faces into a conversation to show your friends or family how your are feeling. Customized emoticons can include any color smiley face you want and can be changed at any time.

Open a drawing program on your computer such as Paint or InDesign.

Draw a circle on the screen and fill it with the color "paint" you want to make the smiley's face. Draw the eyes and mouth with a paint brush. Crop the image with the cropping tool around the circle to make it round, or leave it on the square background.

Click "File" and choose "Save As" from the menu when your smiley is finished. Save the image to a your desktop or a folder such as "My Pictures" for easy access. It is best to save it in GIF or JPEG format.

Log in to your instant messaging service.

Click the "Tools" or "Options" menu to access your emoticons. Click "Add" or "Customize" and use the drop-menu to upload your colored smileys from your "My Pictures" folder or desktop.
