You can perform all steps required to install and configure your Netopia DSL modem.

AT&T sells digital subscriber line (DSL) access to the Internet for business and home customers. The DSL connection from the telephone office gets connected to a DSL modem that converts signals from and to the Ethernet protocol used by the customer's local area network. One of the DSL modems currently supported by AT&T for their DSLs is the Motorola Netopia 2210. You can install that modem to connect your computer to the Internet.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the Netopia CD included with the modem into your computer's CD drive. An installation wizard will come up automatically. Click "Next."

    • 2

      Power up the DSL modem.

    • 3

Connect the port labeled "DSL" on the back of the DSL modem to the DSL connection on the wall, using the grey cable included with the modem.

    • 4

Connect the port labeled "Ethernet" on the back of the DSL modem to your computer, using the yellow cable included with the modem.

    • 5

Launch a Web browser on the computer and navigate to Web address 192.168.1.254 to select a password.

    • 6

Choose a password for the modem and type it in. Log in to the modem by typing the user name "admin" without the quotes and the password you just created, then clicking "OK."

    • 7

Type the username and password assigned to you by AT&T. That password will have nothing to do with the DSL modem password you created in Step 6. Click "Connect." Your Netopia will be completely configured and ready to communicate over AT&T's network.
