Shut down the Averatec laptop. Connect the AC power adapter to the notebook if you have not already done so.
Averatec, a division of Korean computer manufacturer Trigem, produces a wide array of low-cost, moderate-performance laptops for the budget-conscious consumer. Like most other companies, Averatec strives to lower costs for their laptops by not including a restore or operating system disc with their systems. If a virus or software problem corrupts Windows on your Averatec laptop, you must reinstall the operating system and default software using a hidden restoration partition on the hard drive.
Turn on the Averatec laptop. As soon as you see the initial boot screen and Averatec logo, press the "F4" key repeatedly until you see the Restore Menu appear on the screen.
Click the "Protect/Restore" menu option, then "Phoenix FirstWare Recover Pro." The laptop shuts down automatically and restarts. Wait for the "Phoenix FirstWare Recover Pro QuickStart" menu to appear on the screen.
Click the "Advanced" link on the menu, then "Factory Restore Point." When prompted to confirm your choice, click the "Yes" button.
Click the "Recover Entire Drive" option. Click "Yes" in the confirmation window with the "All Data Will Be Deleted" warning message. The Recovery utility restores the original operating system and configuration settings on the Averatec laptop.
Click the "Finish" button when prompted. The laptop restarts and the Windows configuration process begins.
Click the "Yes, I accept" option when prompted to accept the License Agreement for Windows. Click the "Next" button.
Enter a descriptive name for the computer when prompted, then click "Next." Select your Internet connection method, then click the "Next" button. Alternatively, click the "No" option if you do not have an Internet connection. Windows installs files and configures the operating system on the laptop.
Click the "Finish" button to restart the computer a final time. Create a username and password for Windows and log in to the operating system.
