How to Get the Embed Code on Facebook Videos

Facebook makes it relatively easy to upload videos from your cellphone or PC, or even record video directly on the website. You can post videos on your Wall or include them in private messages to your Facebook friends. If you do not have access to the original file for a video you posted on Facebook, you can embed the video on your website. To post a Facebook video on your website requires you use a special embed code and adjust privacy settings to allow streaming of the clip on your site.

Things You'll Need

  • HTML or text editor

    • 1

Log in to your Facebook account. Click the "Photos" link underneath your profile picture.

    • 2

Click the "Videos" link near the top of your "Photos" page. Click the name of the video you want to embed on your website.

    • 3

Click the "Share" button on the video display page. Click the arrow next to the "padlock" icon in the "Share this Video" window. Select the "Everyone" option. Click the "Share Video" button. Click the "Close" button to close the "Share this Video" window.

    • 4

Click the "Embed this Video" link on the video display page. Click inside the "Embed code" field to highlight all of the code in the box. Press the "Ctrl" + "C" keys to copy the code to the Windows Clipboard. Click the "Okay" button to close the "Embed your Video" window.

    • 5

Open your preferred HTML or text editor. Open the file that contains the HTML code for the webpage in which you want to embed the video.

    • 6

Scroll down to the part of the code where you want to display the Facebook video on your webpage. Press the "Ctrl" + "V" keys to post the code from the Facebook site. Save the HTML file.

    • 7

    • 8
