How to Get Rid of Sourmath

Save

Sourmath.com is an infamous website and video that combine a Rick Rollesque surprise attack with the shock value of "2 Girls, 1 Cup." Sourmath uses a script to take control of your Web browser and forces you to view the not-safe-for-work content of the site. It functions like a virus but works only when the browser window is still open. In order to navigate away from this dangerous website, you must either kill the process or perform a hard reboot.

On a PC

  • Don't click on anything on the website, including anything that pops up.

  • Press "Ctrl" + "Alt" + "Delete" simultaneously, and select "Task Manager."

  • When the task manager window appears, find the process or processes for your Internet browser. This will usually be the name of the browser, such as Firefox or Chrome.

  • Right-click on the name of the process, and select "End Process" or "End Process Tree."

  • If this does not kill the window, press and hold the "Off" or "Power" button on your PC until it turns off. Leave your computer off for at least five minutes so that the memory is cleared, and then turn your computer back on.

On a Mac

  • Don't click on anything on the website, including anything that pops up.

  • Select "Force Quit..."

  • Find and select the name of your browser in the list that pops up.

  • Press "Force Quit."

  • If this does not kill the window, press and hold the "Power" button on your Mac until it turns off. Wait for at least five minutes so that the memory clears, and then turn your Mac back on.
