How to Load LISP Files From AutoCAD

LISP is a programming language that is used in full versions of AutoCAD. a computer-assisted drawing program. Once a LISP routine is written it can be used over and over in different drawings. All sorts of LISP routines are written, shared and even sold. From within AutoCAD, load the LISP routine you wish to use.

Instructions

  1. Load to Drawing

    • 1

      Type APPLOAD on the command line. A dialog box appears.

      Navigate to where your LISP routines are located.

    • 3

      Select the one that you need and click "Load."

    • 4

      Select "Close." The LISP is loaded for that drawing.

    Load to Startup Suite

      Type APPLOAD on the command line. A dialog box appears.

      Click the "Contents" button on the right, under the Startup Suite icon.

    • 7

      Select "Add" and a dialog box appears. Navigate to where your LISP routines are located and click "Add." Once you have added all of the routines you use on a regular basis, click "Close" three times to save and exit all windows.

Tips & Warnings

  • LISP routines will only work in full versions of AutoCAD, not the "LT" versions.

  • If you want a LISP routine available for every drawing you load, you must have it loaded in your startup suite.
