Ebay is a popular online auction site on which you can buy and sell goods and services, either via auction or through eBay's "Buy it now." However, in order to sell or bid, you need to be logged into the site with your account ID and password. Your account ID identifies you as a unique eBay user and gives buyers and sellers the security of knowing that they are dealing with a person whose identity has been verified. If you've lost your account ID, you can get it back if you know the email address associated with your account.

Navigate to eBay's "Forgot User ID" page.

Type your email address into the "Enter email address:" text box and again into the "Re-enter your email address:" text box. The email address must be the one registered with eBay.

Click "Continue" and eBay will send an email with your user ID to your in-box.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't receive an email within a few minutes, check your junk mail folder and make sure your in-box isn't full. If you still haven't received an email, or if you don't remember which email address is your eBay address, contact eBay's customer support. At the sign in prompt, click "I'm a guest" to bypass the sign-in screen.
