How to Kill Obelisk the Tormentor
Obelisk the Tormentor represents the forces of divine retribution in the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game. This massive monster adds 4000 attack and defense to the battlefield, along with a host of powerful special abilities. Obelisk prevents all spell, effect monster or trap activation as it comes into play. Once in play, the powerful Egyptian god card cannot be the target of any spells or abilities. Obelisk may seem an unstoppable juggernaut, but it falls quickly to untargeted abilities.

1
Attack with Ally of Justice Catastor to kill Obelisk. Catastor's ability destroys any monster it battles during a turn, whether or not it survives. This untargeted destruction effect monster ability applies to all battled enemies.
-
2
Block Obelisk the Tormentor's attack with Darkness Neosphere. Neosphere comes into play when any creature attacks, allowing you to maneuver it between yourself and Obelisk the Tormentor. When Obelisk's 4000 attack and defense meet with the 4000 attack and defense of the Neosphere, it destroys Obelisk. Darkness Neosphere survives the battle thanks to its untargeted survival effect, preventing its destruction in combat.

Cast the spell card Hammer Shot. Hammer shot's untargeted effect destroys the monster with the highest attack on the field. Very few monsters have attacks higher than Obelisk's 4000 and, in the case of a tie, you may select the monster of your choice. This selection still does not count as a targeted effect.
-
4
Play the Widespread Ruin trap card. This trap card possesses the same untargeted ability as Hammer Shot. The effect triggers when Obelisk or any other opposing monster attacks.
