Once you join Twitter, fellow Twitter users have the option of following your every move, or at least your every tweet. Typically, when you first sign up for Twitter, your followers will consist of people that know you, but as you become a more frequent user of Twitter, you’ll begin to acquire a larger following. Regardless of the makeup of your Twitter followers, you can reach each of them quickly simply by sending a tweet.

Navigate to Twitter. (See Resources.) Enter your Twitter username and password in the text boxes at the top right of the page. Click "Sign in."

Click the text box under “What’s Happening.” If you do not see the text box, click the "New Tweet" button at the top right of the page, next to your Twitter name. The button takes on the appearance of a blue pencil.

Write your desired tweet. It must be no more than 140 characters. Click the gray “Tweet” button after you finish your tweet. Your message will appear on your followers' "Home" pages.

Warnings

If you use the "@" symbol to tag a person or organization, you must place a word or character before the symbol if you wish for all your followers to see the tweet.
