1
Check out your closet for punk clothes that can be modified or worn as outfits. For both sexes, graphic T-shirts depicting the name of punk bands such as the Clash and Dead Kennedys are a good place to start. Anything black is a good choice as well, and shirts with prints such as skulls will work too.

Modify the shirts to look more punk. Cut slits in the shirts and pin the slits together with a row of safety pins or throw the shirts in the washer with a little bit of bleach to fade them. Looking punk is not about being neat. Shirts can also be dyed with fabric dye to alter the fabric and create a punk look.

Find some bottoms. Punk men can wear jeans of any type, but customize the jeans by cutting or tearing holes in them, writing on them with permanent markers or putting pins or band buttons on them. Women should slash long vertical rips into the front of the jeans and pair them with tights underneath for a punk layered look. Black or plaid skirts are a good choice for women too.

Pull on a customized jacket. A denim jacket can be punked out by adding safety pins or band buttons to it. Sew patches on to your jacket or safety pin them on. A leather jacket can be made punk by adding lots of safety pins or silver studs to it.
