Save copies of your important messages.

Comcast provides you with a complimentary email account when you sign up for one of its services. You can use this account to manage messages from your friends and family and to receive marketing updates and electronic bills from Comcast. It is good practice to ensure your emails are backed up and never deleted from the Comcast servers. You can also save copies of all received emails to a separate account to ensure their safety.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit Comcast.com in your Web browser of choice and click the "My Account" icon in the upper right corner of the page. This redirects you to a login page.

    • 2

Enter your Comcast username and password in the appropriate fields and press "Enter" on your keyboard. You will be signed in to your Comcast account.

    • 3

Click "Users & Settings" in the menu bar at the top of the page.

    • 4

Click the "Edit" button next to "Email forwarding" under the "Email Settings" menu. A window appears.

    • 5

Click the "Enable email forwarding" radio button and enter another email address in field that becomes available. This email address should be a Web-based email account like Yahoo!, Hotmail or Gmail. Sign up for an account if you do not already have one. This way, you will have a back up on another email server.

    • 6

Tick the "Keep a local copy" check box, and then press the "Save" button in the bottom of the window. Your forwarding preferences are saved.

    • 7

Click the "Email" button in the upper right corner of the page. You will be redirected to your Comcast email account.

    • 8

Click the "Preferences" button in the menu bar at the top of the page.

    • 9

Click the "Never" radio buttons for "Inbox (unread)," "Inbox (read)" and "Sent Email" under the "Schedule Email Deletion" menu. This configuration will save copies of all of your email to the Comcast servers, which allow 10 gigabytes of storage.

    • 10

Click the "Save" button at the top of the page to save your preferences.

Tips & Warnings

  • Alternatively, you can install and use a desktop-based email client like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird. These will copy all of your emails onto your computer.
