How to Change Your Personal Email on Facebook

How to Change Your Personal Email on Facebook thumbnail
Facebook emails notifications whenever someone communicates with you on the site.

Facebook requires that you provide an email address when you sign up for your account. Your email address doubles as your user name during the login process, and gives Facebook a way to contact you with any notifications or alerts related to your profile. Change your email address if you cancel the one you used when you first signed up for Facebook---if you don't, Facebook can't communicate with you or send you lost passwords.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the white "Account" link in the top right corner of your Facebook screen and click "Account Settings."

    • 2

Click the blue "Change" link in the "Email" section.

    • 3

Enter your new email address in the "New Contact Email" field and click the blue "Add New Email" icon.

    • 4

Click the circle next to the email you've just added to make it your contact address---all notifications from Facebook go to this address. You may maintain multiple email addresses on the site for the purpose of providing contact information on your profile for your friends, but Facebook will communicate with you only through the contact address. Click the blue "Change Contact Email" icon.
