How to Make a Tuxedo Shirt With Chocolate-Covered Strawberries
Chocolate-covered strawberries are an easy dessert to prepare for any occasion. With a little extra time you can use white and dark chocolate to create a pattern that resembles a tuxedo shirt. The detailing on each strawberry is a challenge, as it depends on your artistic ability and the consistency of your melted chocolate. However, your designs will improve with trial and error. Start with a larger batch of strawberries than you need so that you can practice your designs before making your final batch. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- White chocolate pieces
- Milk chocolate pieces
- Wax paper
- Toothpicks
- Large strawberries
Instructions
-
-
1
Melt the white chocolate pieces in a microwave-safe dish at 30 second intervals until melted throughout.
-
2
Dip the bottom of each strawberry into the melted white chocolate until it is about 3/4 covered. The white chocolate will create the tuxedo shirt.
-
-
3
Set each strawberry on a sheet of wax paper and refrigerate until firm. The firming process can take up to an hour.
-
4
Melt the milk chocolate pieces in a microwave-safe bowl at 30 second intervals until melted throughout. The mixture should be slightly runny so that it does not make the bottom layer of chocolate on the strawberry too thick.
-
5
Dip the side of each white-chocolate-dipped strawberry into the melted milk chocolate. The strawberry should be dipped at an angle so that each side creates a "V" similar to the coat of a tuxedo. Dip each strawberry carefully to avoid missing the line of symmetry.
-
6
Dip a toothpick in milk chocolate and use the tip to draw buttons on the shirt of each berry. Create three dots of equal size with your toothpick down the center of the shirt.
-
7
Use the toothpick to draw a bow tie on each berry at the top of your three buttons. Place each completed tuxedo strawberry onto wax paper. Refrigerate for an hour or until ready to serve.
