How to Make a Wedding Cake Tower and Bridal Centerpiece
Whether a couple is looking to save money by cutting cake costs or simply want to incorporate something unique into their big day, a wedding cake tower can be the element they're looking for. These layered creations are made to hold a variety of cupcakes, which are displayed in an eye-catching tiered design. A bride and groom can make their own wedding cake tower to further incorporate their personal flair and wedding style. Then, they can design a bridal centerpiece to coordinate with the cake tower and further the wedding theme.

1
Create the four shelf pieces of the wedding cake tower. These layers should tier up the tower, starting with 16 inches across for the bottom layer, 12 inches for the second, 9 for the third and 6 inches across for the top tier of the tower. Buy 1-inch-thick pre-cut wood pieces in a circular or square shape, or cut your own using a table saw.

2
Use vases to make the stands that will separate and support your wedding cake tower tiers. Choose three vases in a square or cylinder shape that are at least 3 inches wide. Fill the vases with decorations that will match your wedding theme. For example, add seashells to the containers for a beach-themed wedding, or fill them with colored glass stone to bring out the wedding's hues.

Decorate the tiers of the cake tower to match the wedding and the decorations in the vase pillars. Paint the boards a color that will match the festivities. When the paint is dry, cover the edges of each tier with ribbon by attaching it with glue.

4
Glue the wooden tiers onto the vases using a wood glue. Layer glue around the rim of each vase and place the wood piece on top, making sure it's centered.

5
Select a large vase in the same shape as the vases used to create your wedding cake tower supports. For example, if you're using cylinder-shaped vases on the cake tower, buy another container in the same shape that's about 6 to 10 inches in diameter.

6
Place a bouquet of flowers inside the bridal centerpiece vase that will match the wedding's theme and the cake tower. For example, if you decorated the cake tower in red, black and white, choose red roses with white baby's breath for this arrangement. If your wedding is spring-themed, place tulips in the vase that are the same colors as the wedding cake tower's paint.

7
Adorn the bridal centerpiece with other decorations. Fill it with colored stones that bring out the wedding's theme, or tie the ribbon you decorated the cake tower with in a bow around the vase. Light a few tea candles around the vase to give the bridal centerpiece a romantic glow.
