How to Create a Facebook-Like Fan Page

How to Create a Facebook-Like Fan Page thumbnail
Create a Facebook Page to connect with your audience.

Facebook Pages provide a means for businesses, artists, bands, and other organizations and public figures to connect directly with their fans, members and enthusiasts on the social networking website. Unlike Facebook Groups, which invite users to participate, Facebook users must click the "Like" button to connect with a Facebook Page and begin receiving updates. A registered Facebook account is required to create a Facebook page, but you do not have to be publicly displayed as an administrator for the page.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your Facebook account.

    • 2

Visit the "Create a Page" menu (facebook.com/pages/create.php). Select the type of Page you want to create from the following options: Local Business or Place; Company, Organization or Institution; Brand or Product; Artist, Band or Public Figure; Entertainment; and Cause or Community. Click the appropriate button when you have made your decision.

    • 3

Select a subcategory from the menu provided. These categories vary depending on the broader classification you selected in Step 2.

    • 4

Enter a name for your Facebook Page, ideally just the name of whatever you are promoting with the Page. If you have selected "Local Business or Place," enter the basic contact information for your business in the fields provided.

    • 5

Check the box indicating that you agree to Facebook's Terms of Service. Click "Get Started." Your Facebook Page has been created, and now you can add photos, edit the Page's information, share content and post status updates just like on your personal Facebook profile page.

    • 6

Click the "Suggest to Friends" button to open a window, which lists all of your friends. Click the names of friends you wish to invite and click "Send Recommendations."

Tips & Warnings

  • No subcategory options for the Cause or Community button are available when creating the Page.
