How to Change an FTP Site in FrontPage thumbnail
FrontPage has a built-in FTP client.

Microsoft FrontPage has a built-in FTP program to upload Web files to Web servers. FTP, or file transfer protocol, is used to efficiently upload files directly from your computer to a Web host. Change your FTP settings at any time using the Remote Web Site Properties menu in FrontPage. This is a fast way to upload an existing website to a new host or domain or to update your Web hosting password if you've recently changed it.

Instructions

    • 1

      Launch FrontPage.

    • 2

Open the website connected to the FTP account you want to change. Go to "File" > "Open..." and choose the site.

    • 3

Select "Web Site" at the top left side of the site's window.

    • 4

Choose "Remote Web Site" from the footer of the window.

    • 5

Click "Remote Web Site Properties..." at the top right. The Remote Web Site Properties dialog box opens.

    • 6

Change the FTP host name, username or password as needed.

    • 7

Click "OK" to finish. FrontPage will automatically try to connect.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make changes to your Website before you change the FTP settings. The updated site will upload when FrontPage connects with the new settings.

  • If you get an error message when FrontPage tries to connect, you may have a firewall port conflict. Check the "Passive FTP" box in the properties window, this should solve the problem.
