How to Create a New MSN IM Screen Name
Your MSN IM screen name is used to identify who you are to other users. It is also used across the MSN network, such as the MSN member directory. If you need to change your name to keep from getting messages from unwanted parties, you have the option of doing so through your "Member Tools" settings. Once you change your name, alert those you want to communicate with of the name change so you can stay in touch.

Log in to your MSN Messenger account by entering your user name and password.

Click "Member Tools," then click "View Your Member Profile."

Click "Edit My Profile" and then "Edit Profile Details."

Click "Options," then "More Options." Click the "Permissions" tab and click "Change Your MSN Nickname."

Type your new name into the "New Name" field. Click "Check Availability." Click "Save" once you have found a new name you like that is available for use.
