How to Change a Desktop Background With Command Prompt

Just about all Microsoft Windows versions let you change your desktop wallpaper using the Control Panel. However, you cannot automate this action by means of a batch script because Windows does not offer a Command Prompt command for changing the desktop background. Download any of the three command line utilities and implement them in your batch scripts to change your desktop background to a picture of your choice quickly.

Use "Set Wallpaper" to change the desktop wallpaper from the command line. It comes with options in which you can tile, center or stretch the wallpaper. Set Wallpaper also comes with a command line switch that removes the existing desktop wallpaper.

Use the "Wallpaper Changer Command Line Utility" as an alternative to changing your desktop background. The Wallpaper Changer Command Line Utility has a very small file size of 6 kb and can automatically convert other image file formats to the required bitmap format after specifying which image you want to set as the background.

Use "Command Line Wallpaper Changer Portable" if you want additional options for changing your wallpaper. Command Line Wallpaper Changer Portable supports dragging JPG and BMP files to the program in addition to standard command line options to set your wallpaper.
