Adjust the color effects. Click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the page. Select "Auto-fix" if you want the software to take its best guess. You can choose whether you want your picture to be in black & white, mosaic or have a shadowed effect. You can also adjust the brightness and take out any red-eye as well. Just hit the "Colors" button to take advantage of these options.

Choose extra graphics or text. You can make creative pictures in Picnik by adding graphic images to your photo. A few ideas include flowers, hats, neck ties and speech bubbles. There are also plenty of text options if you want to add a silly saying or describe the place where the photo was taken. Press the "Create" tab, and you will see a whole list of features.

Add a frame to your photo. To make your picture stand out, select one of the free picture frames that are available. These can also be found under the "Create" tab. Once you click on frames, a list of available frames appears on the left side of the page. Click on a frame to see how it looks with your picture. Not only can you select the type of frame you would like, but you can also choose the width of the border and the color as well.

Select the size of the photo. Click on the "Edit" tab followed by "Resize." You can choose to resize your photo by either percentages or proportions. If you would like the picture to be half the original size, use percentages and set it at 50 percent. If you want more control, use the "Proportions" feature to set any dimensions that you would like.

Download your finished photo. Click on the "Save & share" tab on the top right-hand corner of the page. Select the name of the file, and then hit "Save." Now you have a brand new picture that you can send to friends or post on a blog.
