How to Name a Street in Honor of a Soldier
If you knew a solider who died in the line of duty or is a war hero, then you might want to your city to name a street in honor of the soldier. While developers of new communities can name their own streets, you will most likely have to petition your city government for the name change.

Call your city government office to find the date of the next public forum. Citizens can get on the agenda to speak about issues of concern. Speaking at a public forum is an ideal way to bring attention to the renaming of a street.

2
Write a letter to your mayor or the members of your city council explaining why you think a street should be named in honor of the solider. You will want to give a brief biography of the soldier and suggest the street or area in which you think the new sign should be placed.
