How to Align the Text Box with Rounded Corners in InDesign
Text boxes with rounded corners can help break up a page. Newspapers and magazines, for example, often use these kinds of text boxes for "pull boxes" containing quotes, bullet points or other important information from a story. Generally, you will not have a need to align these kinds of boxes with anything else; they will simply be one-off items. When you do need to align them, however, InDesign does have some tools to help make doing so easier.

Ruler Guides
-
1
Open your InDesign document and change the view to "Normal" view if you are in "Preview" mode. If you're not sure what view you have active, remember that in "Normal" view, margins are shown as lines.
-
2
Place your cursor over one of the two rulers in your document: either the horizontal ruler at the top or the vertical ruler at the side. Click on the ruler, hold the mouse button down and drag over your page to create a horizontal or vertical guide on the page. Position the guide where you want to align your box, text or picture. (These guides do not print, but simply serve as reference marks while you design your document.)

3
Align your rounded-cornered text box to your new ruler guide. Align other elements, whether graphics or text boxes, along the same ruler guide. InDesign elements such as text and graphics boxes "snap" to guides, whether they are standard to the document (margin guides) or user-created (ruler guides). When you move any box near a ruler guide, it will "snap" to align with that guide.
Baseline Grid
-
4
Go to the "InDesign" menu on an Apple Macintosh computer or the "Edit" menu in Windows and choose "Grids." This will give you the option of creating a "Baseline Grid," a common tool in page design. It places a large number of evenly spaced grid lines on your page, allowing you to align to the grid any elements you choose.
-
5
Select a color for your baseline grid. You will need a specific color of your choice to see the "Baseline Grid" through all of your InDesign page elements. Set the "Start" inside your top margin and choose a measurement for "Increment Every" that works for the document you are creating. Adobe recommends setting this parameter to the same value as your document's leading (the space between lines of type).
-
6
Align your rounded-cornered text box with other elements on the page by following the "Baseline Grid" lines horizontally across the page.
