How to Retrieve Deleted Conversations From AIM

Find your deleted conversations with AIM's built in logger.

It is never too late to retrieve a deleted conversation in AOL Instant Messenger, or AIM. If you close your Instant Messenger dialog box without saving your conversations, you can still recover them by ensuring your preferences are set to log your chats. AOL Instant Messenger is an instant messaging computer program that allows registered users to communicate in real time.

Instructions

1. Launch AIM and select "Settings" under the "Edit" header.

2. Select "IM Logs." Check "Log IMs" and "Log Chats," and then click "Apply."

3. Navigate to "My Documents" on a computer with Windows, or "Documents" on a computer with Mac OSX, and select the folder "AIM Logger." Here you can find all deleted conversations.

Tips & Warnings

• If you want to completely delete a conversation after you decide to enable logs, simply navigate to the AIM Logger folder and delete the conversation log.
