Appreciate the good things about your job and your fellow employees. Maintaining a sense of gratitude and appreciation for your surroundings will be reflected in your positive attitude. When someone does something good, recognize him for it. Thank others for the things they do for you and it will help promote a positive attitude in your work area.
Use your tone and body language to portray a positive attitude to others. According to the University of Michigan, 38 percent of your attitude is expressed in your tone of voice while 55 percent is expressed through nonverbal communication and body language. If you carry yourself in a positive way and speak in an uplifting tone, it will help improve your attitude and your interactions with others in the workplace.
Avoid gossip and negative conversations. In many workplaces, employees talk negatively about upper management, other employees and things that are going on in the company. Your time would be better served working and focusing on positive things. When you get in the habit of talking badly about others, it tends to bring down your attitude in general.
Maintain positive self-talk throughout the day. Everyone has inner talk that goes on inside the mind throughout the course of the day. When you continually focus on the mistakes you have made and talk to yourself negatively, it will hurt your attitude. Continue to talk to yourself positively and focus on the positive things in your job to maintain a good attitude.
