Announce your engagement to friends and the world by creating a Facebook ad.

If you've just got engaged to the love of your life, then you might want to share this news with the world. Facebook allows users to buy and create advertisements, and place them on the homepages of other Facebook users. The ads usually appear in the right-hand column of Facebook pages. You can create a text-only engagement ad, or include an attention-grabbing image or graphic. Create a Facebook engagement ad to share your happy news with Facebook's ad creation tool.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch your Web browser and log in to Facebook.

    • 2

      Navigate to facebook.com/ads/create.

    • 3

Enter the Web address for the ad into the "URL" field. This is the page that visitors will see when they click the ad in Facebook. You might want to use your personal website or blog address.

    • 4

Type the title for your ad into the "Title" field and the ad text in the "Body" input field.

    • 5

Click the "Choose File" button to find and upload an image file from your computer. For an engagement ad, you might want to choose a photo of you and your partner. Click the "Continue" button.

    • 6

Select your ad targeting preferences. Facebook uses this information to display the ad to a relevant audience. You can target the ad by geographical location and user age range. Click "Advanced Targeting Options" to also target the ad by relationship type and to enter specific workplace, college or school details. This is particularly useful for an engagement ad, because you can ensure co-workers and school friends see your announcement. Click the "Continue" button.

    • 7

Select your daily ad budget and ad schedule from the "Campaigns, Pricing and Scheduling" options.

    • 8

Click the "Review Ad" button. Read through the draft ad and, if you're happy with it, click the "Place Order" button. If you haven't already registered a payment method with Facebook, you'll now be asked to register a funding source for the ad. You can pay by credit card, debit card or PayPal electronic funds transfer. Click the "OK" button, then enter your payment information. Facebook will now display your ad, according to your targeting and scheduling preferences.

Tips & Warnings

  • In Step 8, click the "Edit Ad" button if you want to change any of the settings or text before placing your order.

  • Ensure you set an affordable daily budget for your engagement ad. Facebook will charge your funding source each time a user clicks on the ad. When your daily budget runs out, Facebook will stop displaying the ad.
