How to Transfer Contacts From Gmail to Yahoo Mail?

Save time when using email by transferring Gmail contacts to Yahoo! Mail.

If you've built up a large address book of contacts on your Gmail email account then you might want to transfer these to Yahoo! Mail so that you don't have to start another contact address book from scratch. Importing your Gmail contacts to Yahoo! Mail provides easy access to the email addresses, phone numbers and other contact details of your friends, family, co-workers and business partners. Importing Gmail contacts to your Yahoo! Mail account is straightforward with the Yahoo! Contact Import tool.

Instructions

1. Launch your Web browser and log in to Yahoo! Mail.

2. Click the "Contacts" tab in the main navigation menu.

3. Click the "View" button, then select "All Contacts" from the drop-down list.

4. Click "Import Now" under the "Import Your Contacts From Other Accounts to Yahoo!" heading on the right of the page.

5. Click the "Gmail" link. Click the check-box beside "Gmail/Googlemail" to select this option.

6. Type your Gmail email address and Gmail password into the relevant input fields.

7. Scroll down to the privacy statement below the email applications list.

8. Read the statement and click the check-box to confirm that you are allowing Yahoo! Mail to use the supplied log-in details to access your Gmail account.

9. Click the "Continue" button. Wait for Yahoo! to connect to Gmail and retrieve your contacts address book. Yahoo! displays all contacts in the "Select Contacts to Import" dialog box.

10. Click the "Select All" check-box if you want to import all Gmail contacts to Yahoo!. Alternatively, click the check-box beside each contact that you want to import. Click the "Import" button to complete the process.

Tips & Warnings

• Automatically notify your contacts of your Yahoo! Mail address by clicking the notification check-box during the import process in Step 9. Yahoo! will send an email containing your Yahoo! Mail email address to all imported contacts.

• Access imported contacts from the "Contacts" tab in Yahoo! Mail. Yahoo! displays Gmail contacts in the "Gmail" section in the contacts navigation pane.
