How to Compress AOL Mail

Photos and other files are sent as attachments using AOL Mail. When you attach more than one file to an email, the AOL system automatically compresses the files into a folder that must be decompressed by the recipient to view. If you want to compress the files yourself prior to mailing, you can create a zip folder on your desktop that will do this for you.

Instructions

    • 1

Right click on your desktop and choose "New" followed by "Compressed (zip) Folder."

    • 2

Name the folder to match its contents.

    • 3

Drag the files to the folder and wait for the files to compress. Add to the email as an attachment and send to the recipient.
