How to Make Metal in GIMP

Metal textures are often used as background for high tech, modern looking web pages. They can also serve as the background for advertisements related to mechanical or technical businesses. While you can purchase metal textures from stock graphics distributors, you can also use GIMP to simply make your own, free of charge. The process for doing this is quick and simple.

Start GIMP. Select "File" from the menu and choose "New." In the options that appear, enter the desired width and height and click "OK."
