How to Change the UDP in a Router
The User Datagram Protocol (UDP) is a transport protocol used for communications between computers, servers and other networked devices. When setting up services such as online gaming or peer-2-peer file sharing, users are required to set up port forwarding for TCP and UDP packets. In some circumstances, the UDP port number must be changed in order for these services to work. Nearly all routers feature the ability to change the UDP, but the method for doing so may vary, due to the different interfaces featured on most routers.

1
Navigate to your router's configuration page and enter the administrative username and password when prompted. The default username and password can be found underneath the router itself or in the user manual, unless these credentials were changed by the user.
-
2
Direct your browser to the port forwarding section of the router's configuration page. On Linksys and Cisco routers the port forwarding section can be found under "Applications & Gaming."

3
Locate the "UDP" box next to the assigned IP address and change the port number as instructed by the service requiring the change. Most services will specify an exact UDP port number to use. When finished, click "Save Settings."
