How to Change the Overall Default Computer Font for Windows XP
Windows XP allows you to change the default font that is displayed in your windows, icons and other items that appear on your computer. You can access these settings through Display Properties in the Control Panel. Windows Classic style gives you greater control over the way your desktop looks, enabling you to choose the exact font, font size and font color you want.

Click "Start," select "Control Panel," then click "Appearance and Themes." Click "Display," then click the "Appearance" tab.

Select "Windows Classic style" under "Windows and buttons." Select a new color scheme from the "Color scheme" drop-down menu, if desired. Each color scheme has its own default font, font size and font color settings. To change the font size settings only, select the desired size under "Font size." To change the overall font, click the "Advanced" button.

Select "Active Title Bar" under "Item." Under "Font," select the desired default font for the active title bar, then select the font size and color. Look at the preview window to make sure the font looks right. Repeat these steps for "Icon," "Inactive Title Bar," "Menu," "Message Box," "Palette Title," "Selected Items" and "ToolTip." Click "OK."

Click the "Themes" tab. Select "Save As..." Type a name for your new Windows XP theme, then click "Save." If your font or other theme settings are ever changed, quickly reset them by selecting your saved theme from the "Themes" drop-down menu in Display Properties.

Tips & Warnings
You must select "Windows Classic" as your style to change your overall default font in Windows XP. If you select "Windows XP style," the default fonts in this style will override any selections you make in the Advanced Properties window.
You can only use a font that is currently installed on your computer. Download new fonts for free on Styopkin.com, OnlyFreeFonts.com or DaFont.com. To install a new font, click "Fonts" in "Control Panel" classic view, then click "File" and "Install New Font."
