How to Solo on a Warlock in "WoW"

In the game "World of Warcraft," despite the fact that warlocks are cloth-wearers, they are one of the most efficient classes for soloing when using an appropriate talent build. Like the hunter class, warlocks have their own range of pets, the voidwalker and felguard being the ones designed primarily for tanking and solo play. With the right talent build and spell rotations, a warlock can easily solo almost any regular elite, as well as many raid and dungeon bosses from previous, now obsolete content. Any character can easily reach level 85 without ever grouping with another player, though it takes time. Once you reach the level cap, however, you may need to change your talents if you want to solo effectively content designed for groups.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to a capital city and find your trainer. Since Cataclysm, every city, including Shattrath and Dalaran, has trainers for all classes and professions.

    • 2

Unlearn your existing talents or, better still, purchase dual talents. Dual talents will allow you to have two separate talent builds complete with their own action bars. This is ideal if you still want to keep an effective raiding or PvP build in addition to your soloing build.

    • 3

Choose the demonology tree for effective soloing. This tree enhances the abilities of your minions, and choosing talents here will make your voidwalker and felguard pets much more efficient for tanking. Without these talents, your pet will not generate much threat, and your enemies will come to you instead. Since warlocks are weak cloth wearers with few escape abilities, you must be able to rely on your pet a lot when soloing. The two most important talents to choose in this tree are "Fel Synergy" and "Improved Health Funnel," since they make healing your pet much more effective.

Use the right minion for the right job. The felguard and voidwalker are useful for tanking, but in different situations. The voidwalker is better for single-target tanking since it has a taunt ability and more health, though it does almost no damage. Use the felguard for tanking groups of mobs, since this pet also can do considerable AoE damage, making it more likely to keep multiple mobs attacking successfully.

Pay attention to the threat meter when you are soloing. For effective soloing, the warlock should use primarily damage-over-time spells so as not to build up too much threat.
