Paper jams will stop a printer in its tracks.

The Canon Pixma MP160 printer is a 22-page-per-minute black-and-white printer that can also print full-four color documents at a speed of 17 pages per minute. The 160 can be used as either a network printer or the direct printer for a single PC or Mac computer. Like all printers, the 160 can experience occasional paper jams that must be cleared before the printer can pass any paper. Unfortunately, the 160 may also display error code E3, which indicates a paper jam, when no paper jam exits.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the front cover of the 160 and remove all paper from the document feeder.

    • 2

Remove any visible paper from inside of the machine. Look closely for any small pieces of ripped paper that may be in the paper path of the 160. Use tweezers to remove any ripped pieces of paper that you cannot remove with your fingers.

    • 3

Blow out any paper dust from the inside of the machine using a can of compressed air. Wear eye protection if your 160 is very dusty to prevent the paper dust from getting in your eyes. Close the front panel when you feel that you have removed all of the paper dust from the printer.

    • 4

Put three pieces of clean paper into the document feeder. Make sure the paper is unwrinkled, clean and not damp.

    • 5

Send a one-page print job to the 160. When the printer receives the print job, use your hands to guide all three pieces of paper through the document feeder at the same time. This method will help to remove any additional paper dust or small pieces of torn paper from the paper path.
