How to Wipe a MacBook
When you "wipe a MacBook," it means you are resetting the laptop to its original factory settings. All programs and information that you've saved on the computer will be erased. Resetting a MacBook should be done only after other methods of troubleshooting a computer problem have failed. Problems you might encounter that may warrant a reset include hardware and software glitches causing the laptop to freeze up or reboot sporadically. Other issues that might require you to wipe the MacBook include: the fans run abnormally fast even though only one or two programs are open on the computer, or the laptop does not turn on or off when you press the power button.
