How to Make a Pretend Microphone
Many kid's games involve microphones. There also are many plays in which you may need one as a prop. Whatever the reason, you may not want to pay the cost of a real one. Instead, create a pretend one using inexpensive materials. It can be thrown around without fear, because if anything happens to it you can just make another.
Things You'll Need
- Styrofoam ball
- Silver paint
- Paintbrush
- Marker
- Cardboard
- Scissors
- Paper towel tube
- Glue
- Black paint
- Black cord or ribbons
Instructions
-

1
Paint a 2 1/2-inch diameter Styrofoam ball with silver paint and allow it to dry.
-
2
Draw a ring around the ball with a thick, black marker. If desired, cover the rest of the ball with small black dots to simulate a screen.
-
-
3
Cut out a circular piece of cardboard and glue it into one end of a paper towel tube, sealing that end.
-
4
Paint the paper towel tube black. If the microphone is for your child, paint the tube in his or her favorite color.
-
5
The ring should be perpendicular to the tube. Glue the ball to the end of the tube, with the ring perpendicular to the tube. Allow the glue to dry.
-
6
Glue a piece of black cord coming out of the bottom of the microphone, or glue several 6-inch ribbons if it is for your children.
