Homemade Pranks

The salty toothbrush gag is a classic homemade prank.

Homemade pranks are a cheap and easy way to pull fun, harmless tricks on friends and family. There are a variety of homemade pranks you can make using objects around your home. Should you find yourself in a playful prank war with a friend or family member, try some simple homemade pranks.

Things You'll Need

• 1 fake plastic spider
• Measuring tape
• Clear string
• Scissors
• Doorway
• 2 cups of brown air-drying clay
• Toothbrush
• Paper towel
• Table salt
• Clear packing tape
• 1 tablespoon peanut butter
• Petroleum jelly

Instructions

Leaping Spider

1. Take a fake plastic spider--you can usually find them at costume shops or Halloween stores--and tie a piece of string to it. Measure about halfway down your doorway and cut your string to that length.

2. Securely tape the loose end of your string to the center part of the top door frame.

3. Place your fake spider on the top edge of your door and leave door slightly ajar. When somebody opens the door, the spider will fall into their face.

Poop Gag

1. Roll some brown, air-drying molding clay into a log-type shape.

2. Mold the log so that it will look like a piece of poop. Try making it into a layered spiral, criss-cross it, or cut it in half and put one piece over the other.

3. Set clay in sunlight and give it at least a few hours to dry. You may need more time, depending on the type of clay. Read drying instructions.

4. Place your fake poop in a place where your prank target will find it.

Salt On Toothbrush Gag

1. Take the person's toothbrush and run it under some warm water. Do not attempt this trick on an expensive, electric toothbrush.

2. Pour a generous amount of table salt onto a paper towel, and gently brush your wet toothbrush into it. This will grind the salt into the toothbrush bristles.

3. Put toothbrush back where you found it. When your friend or family member goes to brush their teeth, they'll be taken aback by the new salty and mint flavor of their toothpaste.

Peanut Butter Phone Gag

1. Put a piece of clear packing tape over the receiver of a phone in your prank target's home. The clear tape protects the phone during your prank.

2. Take about a tablespoon of peanut butter and smear it on the tape that covers the receiver. Create a thick layer, but stay within the edges of your receiver so that the peanut butter is not immediately visible.

3. Call the person you are pranking. When they answer the phone, they get an ear full of peanut butter.

Slippery Morning

1. Smear petroleum jelly onto the inside of the bedroom doorknob, while your prank target is still asleep.

2. Smear more petroleum jelly onto bathroom items, such as a hairbrush handle, toothbrush handle or tube of toothpaste.

3. Wait for your friend or family member to wake up, and enjoy watching their confusion when they can't quite get a grasp on the day.

• Never pull a prank that can cause bodily harm or do serious damage.
