You can download files directly from Safari's Activity Monitor window.

Safari, which is the default web browser in the Mac OS X operating system, includes a tool called the Activity Monitor. The Activity Monitor shows the user what the browser is currently processing and also produces a list of the files and resources used by the current website. From within the Activity Monitor window in Safari you can download any file or resource, even if there is no direct link to it on the webpage.

Instructions

      Launch the Safari application by clicking on the icon in the dock.

      Navigate to the webpage from which you want to download a file.

      Go to the "Window" menu at the top of the screen and select "Activity" to open the Activity Monitor tool.

      Scroll through the list of files and resources for the current website until you find the one you want to download.

      Hold down the "option" key on your keyboard.

    • 6

      Double-click on the file's name to start downloading it. Safari's Download Monitor window will appear so that you can track the progress of the download.
