How to Embed a Flickr Image in a WordPress Blog

Flickr has millions of images released under a Creative Commons license. As a result, it can be a valuable source of pictures for your blog if you are not a photographer yourself. To use an image from Flickr, you could download it to your computer and upload it to your Web server. However, this consumes space and can drain the server's resources. To circumvent this problem, use the embedding code on a Flickr image to add it to a blog post while hosting it on Flickr's servers.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate in your Web browser to Flickr.com, and locate the image that you would like to embed in a WordPress post.

    • 2

Click the arrow next to the "Share on Twitter" button above the image, and then click "Grab the HTML/BBCode."

    • 3

Click the drop-down menu at the bottom of the menu, and select the image size that you want to embed in your WordPress post.

    • 4

Click the "HTML" radio button at the bottom of the menu.

    • 5

Highlight the code displayed in the large field in the middle of the menu. Right-click with the mouse or press "Ctrl" and "C" to copy the code to the Windows clipboard.

    • 6

Open another browser window or tab, and navigate to your WordPress website. Open the post that you want to embed the Flickr image in.

    • 7

Click the "HTML" tab at the top of the post editing screen, and place the cursor at the location where you would like the image to appear in your post.

    • 8

Right-click with the mouse or press "Ctrl" and "V" to paste the code from Flickr into the source code of the WordPress post.

    • 9

Click "Publish" or "Update" at the top of the page to save the post with the embedded image.
