How to Set Anchor Text in Blogger

Blogger blogs offer editing and HTML tools to help authors set anchor text in their blog posts. A hyperlink to a different page is embedded in the anchor text, which readers click on to navigate to the page the author recommends. This anchor text can say anything; it does not have to reflect the title or nature of the page to which it is linked. Popular options for anchor text include "Click here," "Read on" or "For more information, please visit this page." You can also state the title of the website you're linking to or the title of an article as the anchor text.

Instructions

  1. Using the Composition Tab

    • 1

Log in to your Blogger account. Navigate to a new or existing blog post you wish to edit.

    • 2

Select the "Compose" tab from the post editor. This tab is located on the top right side of the post editor. Type the text of the anchor text you wish to use. There is no minimum or maximum number of characters as long as you type at least one character.

    • 3

Use your mouse to highlight the text you just typed. Select the "Link" icon from the top middle of the post editor. This will launch a new dialog box. Type the HTML address of the URL you wish to link to.

    • 4

Press "OK" to save the changes and close the box. Your anchor text will now appear as a blue link.

    Using the HTML Tab

    • 5

Log in to your Blogger account. Navigate to a new or existing blog post you wish to edit.

    • 6

Toggle to the "Edit HTML" tab, also located on the top right side of the post editor. Copy and paste the following piece of code into the post editor, without quotes:

      "<a href="http://www.yourlinkhere.com/">Your Anchor Text Here</a>"

    • 7

Switch out the desired URL for the URL in the code. Type new anchor text where "Your Anchor Text Here" currently exists. This code will automatically turn the anchor text into a blue link.

Tips & Warnings

  • Create your anchor text as described in Step 2, rather than as in Step 3, if you are not comfortable with HTML coding, as Step 2 requires no such knowledge.
