How to Disassemble the Remington XP100
The Remington XP-100 is a bolt-action pistol designed for long range targets. Mounted with a scope, the XP-100 was developed to fire a cartridge called the .221 Fireball. With a muzzle velocity of 2,700 feet per second, the Fireball is the fastest mass-produced pistol cartridge ever manufactured. The barrel on the Remington XP-100 is manufactured with lengths of 10.75 and 14.5 inches. Disassembling the XP for cleaning is very simple. It only requires one tool. The entire process takes less than 10 seconds.

1
Engage the safety on the pistol by clicking the button located inside the trigger guard in front of the trigger from right to left. Hold the pistol in your left hand by the grip. Lift the bolt lever up and pull it back with your right hand. Look through the ejection port, into the magazine feed and the chamber. Make certain there are no rounds in either location. Never disassemble a loaded pistol.

2
Point the pistol away from your body. Take a cleaning rod and slide it down the end of the barrel. The rod will push a round out of the chamber if one exists that you were not able to see when you looked through the ejection port. When the cleaning rod appears in the ejection port, you know that your pistol is unloaded and there is no cartridge in the chamber.

Remove the bolt. Pull back on the bolt until it stops. There is a locking mechanism that prevents the bolt from sliding off the frame as you eject one round and chamber another. Insert your punch pin under the scope in front of the bolt. Disengage the small lever located in front of the bolt by pushing down. Pull the bolt from the frame of the pistol. The pistol is field stripped and ready to clean.
