Sugaring is a method of hair removal and an alternative to waxing and shaving. Sugaring involves melting sugar and water into a paste, then applying the paste to hair and using strips of fabric to remove the hair at the root.       Pour 1/4 cup of water and 1/4 cup of lemon juice into a sauce pan. Add 2 cups of sugar. Place the pan on the stove over low heat until. Insert a candy thermometer into the mixture. Stir and heat the mixture until the thermometer reads 250 degrees Fahrenheit and the sugar is melted. Remove the pan from the heat.

      Let the sugar cool for 10 minutes, then pour it into a Mason jar. Let it cool until it is pliable but not hot to the touch.

      Use small grooming scissors to cut back the hair you want to sugar to about 1/4 inch long. Rinse the area with clean water to remove lotion or perfume. Pat the area dry with a towel and sprinkle it with talcum powder.

      Spread the cooled sugar over the area with the talcum powder using a butter knife, following the direction the hair grows. Press the cotton strips into the sugar. Pull the strips up and away from the skin, in the opposite direction of the hair growth.
