The browser bar inside your Internet browser is often confused with the search bar, which is often located right next to it. The key difference is that the browser bar is used to type in the Web address of a website, such as .cnn.com, whereas the search bar is used as a search engine to find websites by typing in key words. No matter what Internet browser you are using, the browser bar will always be located at the top of the browser window. However, browser bars can be set to "hidden," which can sometimes make them difficult to find.
Open your preferred Internet browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari.
Click inside the long white box at the top of your Internet browser. This box is your browser bar. In some browsers this box will be labeled "Address." Regardless of the Internet browser you use, it should be located in the same place.
Click "View" and select "Show Toolbar" if your browser bar seems to be missing and it will appear at the top of your Internet browser. The actual term located under the "View" menu for revealing a hidden browser bar may vary depending on the Internet browser you are using.
Type the web address for the website you wish to navigate to inside this browser bar and press "Enter" on your keyboard.
