How to Update the BlackBerry 9000 OS


The BlackBerry Bold 9000 cell phone is a QWERTY smartphone that was released in 2008. By default, the Bold 9000 comes with version 5.0 of the BlackBerry operating system installed. Although BlackBerry has since released version 6 of the BlackBerry operating system software, that version is not compatible with the Bold 9000 phone. You can update your BlackBerry Bold 9000 to the most recent release of the version 5 operating system software via the BlackBerry device update website.

  • Connect your BlackBerry 9000 smartphone to your computer via its included USB cable.

  • Navigate your computer's Web browser to the BlackBerry updates website at

  • Click the "Check for Updates" button located toward the lower-right of the webpage. A device update popup will open and check for updates for your BlackBerry 9000 device. Any available updates found will be displayed on the screen.

  • Click the check box next to the BlackBerry operating system update and any other updates you wish to install.

  • Click the "Install" button and follow the on-screen prompts to install the operating system update to your BlackBerry 9000 phone.
