How to Transfer an SMS to a PC

Save

SMS messages, known as "text messages," are automatically saved to your phone's memory as soon as the messages reach your phone. Sending a message to your PC saves a copy of the message. This gives you the option of then removing the SMS message from your phone, which is convenient if the phone's memory card or hard memory is full. Transferring the SMS message to the PC is as easy as sending a standard text to another cell.

  • Turn the phone on.

  • Access the phone's main menu via the "Menu," "OK" or "Go" button.

  • Open the "Messaging" or "Text Messaging" category on the phone. Then, open the "Inbox" or "Messages" screen. The SMS messages saved on the phone appear.

  • Highlight and open the SMS message you are transferring to the PC. The entire message will appear on the screen.

  • Press the "Settings" or "Options" key, or press the message directly. A menu will appear.

  • Press "Forward." A blank "To" box will appear above the SMS message.

  • Type in any email address you use. Enter the address exactly as you would if sending an email on your PC.

  • Press "Send" or "Forward." The message will be sent to the email address.

  • Open the email message on the PC of your choice. Copy the SMS message that's located inside the sent email. Paste that message inside a blank document. Save that document on the PC.
