Satellite television provider DIRECTV supplies a set-top box that is used as an tuner and interface between the satellite receiving dish and your television. The box features a remote control that not only is used to change satellite channels, but also can be programmed to operate the rest of your home entertainment gear, like the television itself. Disc devices like a Blu-ray player can be programmed. Programming the remote is accomplished with some codes.
Identify the model of your DIRECTV remote control. It will be printed in the upper left corner of the remote face and starts “RC” followed by a two digit number, like “23.” Then visit the DIRECTV Remote Control Lookup website page which is listed in the References section below, and click on the model number hyperlink. For example, click on “RC-23.”
Click on the link “Video – DVD” and then enter the Blu-ray player brand and model number. Then press “Search.” The most popular code for your Blu-ray player will be displayed on the resulting page.
Set the “Mode” switch on the remote control to “AV-1.” Then press and hold the “Mute” button and the “Select” button until the visible LED blinks twice. Enter the five digit code from the previous step using the keypad on the remote.
Try the remote by testing a button, like “Power.” If the remote works, you are done. If it does not, press the “Find More Codes” button on the website, and more codes will be displayed that you can enter into the remote following the steps listed above, and test.
