How to Sync AOL Calendar With Outlook

Managing multiple contact lists and calendar entries can be quite the task. Between mobile devices, Web-based applications and desktop office suites, a lot can get lost in between. If you use Microsoft Outlook as your main calendaring application, but also use an AOL Calendar account, you can use AOL's synchronization tool to synchronize the data between both sites, making a uniform calendar view. The AOL Sync plugin for Microsoft Outlook is from a developer named Funambol and is completely free.

  • Navigate to and log into your AOL account. Click the "Outlook Plugin" link to begin the software download.

  • Click "Run" through the dialogs to download and install the application. Click "Next" through the installation wizard until the installation is complete. The default settings are perfect for most users, so do not change them unless you need a different installation directory or another custom setting.

  • Launch Microsoft Office, then click the "Options" button in the Funambol menu. Click "Account" and enter your username and password into the appropriate fields.

  • Click "Sync," then click the checkbox of each item you want to synchronize. The Calendar option alone is fine if you only want to sync your Microsoft Outlook and AOL calendars, though you can synchronize your contacts and email as well.

  • Click "OK" to close the options dialog, then click the "Sync All" button to synchronize all of your current calendar data with AOL.
