How to Use Street View Maps on the iPhone

The "Maps" application that comes preinstalled on every iPhone device includes the ability to view street view maps of many locations. If a street level map is available for the location you are viewing, a specific street view symbol will appear next to the location's address. Tapping this symbol takes the application into street view mode, allowing you to view the location and its surrounding areas from a street view in a few simple steps.

  • Tap the "Maps" application icon on the iPhone's home screen to launch the application.

  • Tap the "Search" button and type the name or address of the location you are searching for in the search bar. Tap the "Search" button to search for the location. The location will now appear on the map interface.

  • Tap the street view symbol to the left of the location's address. The street view symbol resembles an orange circle with a person in the center. The "Maps" application will now give you a street view of the location.

  • Swipe your finger to the left, right to look side to side and up and down to look up and down. Pinch to zoom in and out of the street view image. Tap the arrows on the ground to move in the designated direction on the map. When you are finished using street view, tap the image and tap the "Done" button that appears in the upper-right corner of the image. You will now be returned to the regular map interface.
