High-definition (HD) televisions, manufactured by companies such as Samsung, allow users to not only view cable programming, but view signals from high-definition devices, such as Blu-ray players, HD cable boxes or satellite receivers. If you are using the television in conjunction with a cable box or satellite receiver, you can easily hook up your Samsung television to high definition.
Things You'll Need
- HD cable box or satellite receiver
- HDMI cable
Connect one end of your HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the back of your cable box or satellite receiver.
Connect the other end of your HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the back or side of your Samsung television. Most Samsung televisions have more than one HDMI input, so connect the cable to the input port of your choice.
Turn your Samsung television on, along with the cable box or satellite receiver. On-screen prompts will guide you through initial set-up, and you'll see the signal on the television from your HD cable box or receiver.
Using your Samsung television remote, turn the television off. Your Samsung will continue to connected via HDMI input provided you don't adjust the settings.
