It is very easy to use multiple characters in "Borderlands" because the game allows you to create and save many unique character profiles that can play the single player and multi-player modes. You need to start a new game and select any of the four characters available. When you exit the game the progress of that character will be saved. Next time you attempt to start a game you can either choose this character or switch to another one, whether he already exists or is another new character.
Load "Borderlands" and click "Single Player" on the main menu. Select "New Character" from the menu.
Play the game until the flashing "Borderlands" logo appears in the top right corner to indicate the game has saved.
Press the "Menu" button and select "Exit."
Click "Single Player" from the main menu again and then select "New Character" or an existing character from the menu.
Load "Borderlands" and select "Online Game" -- or "LAN Game" if you have the PC version and want to play across a local network.
Scroll down the menu to the "Select Character" option and select it. Choose "New Character" or one of your other characters.
Select an option from the multi-player menu, such as "Join Game" or "Host Public Game" to start a game session as the character you have chosen.
Tips & Warnings
- You can only switch between characters before you enter the game world.
- The "Select Character" option also appears in the multi-player game lobby.
- You cannot use multiple characters simultaneously, only one at a time.
