From the Hollywood glamor days to present day, soft curls are a classic hairstyle that has continuously been in vogue. Due to the fact that soft curls are loosely formed, their staying power is diminished. Elements such as humidity, temperature and wind, play a huge role in how long soft curls will last. Things You'll Need

  • Curl enhancing shampoo
  • Curl enhancing conditioner
  • Towel
  • Wide-tooth comb
  • Volumizing hair mousse
  • Hairdryer
  • Hairspray
  • Curling iron
  • Pin curl clips
  • Shine spray

Instructions

    • 1

      Wash your hair. Use a curl enhancing shampoo and conditioner. Rinse your hair with cold water to bring out the shine. Wrap your hair in a dry towel to remove excess moisture. Use a wide-tooth comb to remove tangles. Work volumizing hair mousse through your damp hair.

      Dry your hair thoroughly, with a hairdryer. Bend over and dry your hair upside-down, to add volume.

      Part a horizontal line in your hair, around the back of your head, from ear to ear. Clip the top section up and out of the way.

      Divide the lower section of your hair. For soft curls, work in sections at a time. Separate a 2 inch section of your hair and clip the remaining hair out of the way.

      Spray the 2 inch section of hair with flexible hold hairspray. Wrap this section of hair around the curling iron and hold it in place for 10 seconds.

      Remove the curling iron carefully, without disturbing the curl. If hair comes unraveled, use your fingers to roll the hair back into a curl. Hold the the curl in place. Use a pin curl clip to secure the curl to your scalp.

      Repeat Steps 7 to 10, until the lower section of your hair is curled and pinned.

      Release a 2 inch section of clipped hair from the upper section. Repeat Steps 7 to 10, until the upper section of your hair is curled and pinned. Allow the hair to cool for 10 minutes.

      Remove the pin curl clips from each section, starting at the bottom.

      Spray your soft curls with a light layer of hairspray, for a longer lasting hold. Apply shine spray to your hands. Run your fingers though your hair. This will break up the hair and soften your curls.
