How to Convert a JPG to a Movie Clip in Flash CS4


Adobe Flash CS4 enables you to create Movie Clips: reusable objects that help optimize your project and save project storage space. Movie Clips can consist of one or more animations or objects, including bitmaps, PNGs or JPGs. One advantage to creating a Movie Clip of your JPG is that if you can perform transformations such as rotation or sizing on the image, and each instance of the Movie Clip will reflect the changes.

  • Open your Flash project. Perform the following process to import the JPG if necessary.

  • Select "File" from the top menu, and then "Import." Select "Import to Library" from the drop-down menu.

  • Navigate to your JPG in the resulting browser window, select it and click the "Open" button. The JPG is imported to the Library.

  • Scroll within the "Library" panel to locate the JPG and drag it to the stage. Press "F8" to convert it to a Movie Clip.
