How to Link a Business to Facebook

If you want to link your business to Facebook, you should first create a Facebook page for your business. Facebook pages are free, and let you distinguish between your personal profile page from your business page. Once you create a page, you can link your business Web site to Facebook using a Facebook Page Badge. You can also use your Facebook page URL in advertising, e-mail signatures, company blogs, or anywhere else you want people to see that your business is on Facebook.

Instructions

Creating a Business Page on Facebook

1. Create a personal account on Facebook if you do not have one already. A personal account is required to create a business page.

2. Log into your Facebook account. Click "Profile" at the top left of your home page. Then click the "Create a Page" link at the bottom of your profile.

3. Select the type of page you want to create for your business from the options provided. You can choose from "Local Business or Place," "Company, Organization, or Institution," Brand or Product," "Artist, Band or Public Figure," "Entertainment," or "Cause or Community."

4. Select a category from the drop-down menu. These vary according to the type of page you selected. For a local business, you also need to enter your full address. For the other categories, you only have to enter a name for the business. If you are an artist, band or public figure, you can use your own name.

5. Add as much information about your business as you can. Include photos, videos, and details about any services or products your business offers. Add your business Web site in the field provided to link your Facebook business page to it.

Adding a Facebook Badge to Your Website

1. Log into Facebook. Click the "Add a Badge to Your Site" link on the left of your Facebook Profile page. Then select "Page Badges."

2. Select "Other," unless your business Web site happens to be on Blogger or TypePad. Then click "Edit this Badge."

3. Configure your Facebook badge as desired. The preview will change according to your selections. Then click "Save."

4. Double-click on the code provided. Then copy it by pressing "Ctrl" and "C" on your keyboard.

5. Paste the code where you would like it to appear on your Web site. Your business Web site is now linked to your Facebook business page.
